Vision and Mission

Capturing the Passion and Expertise of America’s Teaching Community

The Common Core Learning Community (Core Challenge) leverages the passion, knowledge, and expertise of educators to provide equitable access to high-quality curriculum resources for all students, parents, and teachers.

  • Open, equitable access by all community members.
  • Vendor and technology agnostic for our learning objects.
  • Support for common media formats for video, audio, pencasts and documents to facilitate universal access.
  • Creative Commons licensing model to ensure that content remains available to community members.
  • Use of electronic publishing methodologies to allow for extensible publishing options in the future.

The Core Challenge is a 501c3 nonprofit organization focused on creating an advanced learning community with an initial focus on providing resources for the transition to the common core mathematics standards scheduled for 2014.

While our initial focus and timeline revolve around the common core transition, the long-term vision of the project is to create a freely open repository of high quality educational materials coupled with social networking tools to allow members of the community to interact with each other in meaningful ways.  The Core Challenge community will be open to teachers, teacher leaders, parents, families and students with an initial focus on serving teachers and teacher leaders.

As a nonprofit organization, Core Challenge relies on the generous support of corporate and individual donors as well as foundation grants to bring the Core Challenge vision to life.
